From the Ground Up:
6 Week Wellness Immersion
Throughout art school I totally struggled with aches and pains in my neck and low back. I even threw my back out, not once but twice! Can you relate?
What I didn't realize at the time was how much the way I walked, sat, and moved throughout the day was increasing the pain I was experiencing.
I became dedicated to learning more about movement. Over time, I retrained my walking patterns and standing postures From the Ground Up! As a result, the more I learned, the less pain I experienced. I continued to advance my training and understanding of the body. I used my backgrounds in massage therapy and movement to developed techniques and strategies to use throughout the day. I immediately noticed results!
So, I brought these techniques back to my clients and they too experienced less and less strain. I want that for you!
It is no secret that sitting for long periods of time can impact the body negatively. That's why on September 30th I'm hosting From the Ground Up: 6 Week Wellness Immersion!

About the Immersion
Each week we will focus on a different area of the body, starting with the feet and ankles!
By the end of the course, you will have a complete "toolkit" and a more well-developed understanding of your body that will leave you feeling empowered and inspired to keep creating. You will gain a deeper understanding of what’s happening in the body when our posture fails us, when our backs give out, when we develop knots, or experience tension in the wrists and forearms.
You will walk away with the skills you need to build strength and mobility in the studio through safe movements, corrective exercises, strengthening techniques, massage techniques, stretches, and posture check-ins.

WHAT MAKERS ARE SAYING
“As a jeweler who has recently been sidelined by a repetitive motion injury, learning about the proper ergonomics of my practice has become a major priority for me. I downloaded the “Precious Movements” webinar as a way to arm myself with knowledge for my eventual return to my bench. Missy’s delivery is clear and concise- I was able to listen to the audio while driving (and actually absorb it) and then return to the video at a later date to review the information again, with visuals. I know that what I’ve learned from “Precious Movements” will be a huge part of how I structure my work environment and take care of my body going forward, in my career as a jeweler. Thanks, Missy!”
Kasey Jorgensen: Production Manager for Melissa Joy Manning
"Anyone involved in the making industry, from creative professional teams to individual students, would benefit immensely from Missy’s workshop. She is a wealth of knowledge and leads the workshop with a fun and informative atmosphere. Our team of jewelers can apply the techniques learned from this workshop to not only improve their work day but also their daily lives, allowing them to continue working on their craft in a healthy and sustainable way for their bodies."
Kristin Muller: Executive Director for Peters Valley School of Craft
“We spend money on tools and equipment for our studios, find ways to repair and replace the tools we need to make our work and often discount our most important tool, our bodies. Wellness for Makers® is a brilliant resource to help us nurture, maintain, and repair our bodies.”
