Do you ever feel like “bad posture” is inevitable? Maybe you’ve accepted poor alignment as your fate?
I get it. For years, I believed that I would always have poor posture, back pain, and even regular headaches. It felt like I was always going to feel that way. So that became my mindset. Don’t get me wrong, I did things to care for myself. I’d get a massage regularly, I practiced yoga asana once a week, I went the the chiropractor. But I still threw my back out in the studio not once but twice.
This really impacted my career as an artist. I dreaded going to the museums because I’d be in so much pain by the day’s end from walking on the hard wood floors and concrete surfaces. In the studio, my low back would ache and I’d get headaches regularly from rounding and hunching over my work. As a massage therapist, I’m embarrassed to share that I couldn’t leave home without a container of Advil for years.
I knew I was in pain, but I didn’t think of myself as someone that was in chronic pain even though it was a part of my daily life for so long. How? I assumed it wasn’t that bad because the massages, yoga & chiropractic, and the Advil all helped me temporarily. Sound familiar?
What I didn’t realize at the time was how much my mindset was holding me back from taking action to improve my overall alignment. Once I understood what was possible, I started deconstructing my movements and crafting new patterns. This helped me to maintain a more effective alignment while creating in a variety of positions.
And guess what?! It worked! With dedication and consistency, I transformed my perspective of what movement is, which improved my postures, and living in chronic pain is no longer my narrative. This ultimately transformed my life!
I want that for you! That’s why I am excited to announce that I am opening 10 spots to my 1:1 mentorship program, Making Moves! In this 12 week program, we will meet 1:1. These sessions allow us to have a more in-depth conversation about your studio practice, pain you experience, and goals you’d like to work on. This is your opportunity to ask questions and invite me into your studio virtually to make improvements. Together we will evaluate your studio set up, movements patterns, and processes that are causing you strain and create ways to refine your practice so it supports your creative journey.
In between sessions, you will gain access to a library of awesome pre-recorded movement classes that you can come back to again and again!
Are you ready to detach from the narratives and fears that have been holding you back from shifting your perspective about movement? If you’re sick of aching while making and ready to take action then this program is for you!
I’ve worked hard to transform all of the information I’ve learned throughout the years about movement, posture, massage, and the artist’s studio practice into digestible ideas for you to consider throughout this program.
I believe that by redefining what movement means to you, you can create a daily routine that reduces pain and strain and ultimately strengthens your body and mind over time.
If you’re ready to get rid of the belief system that you have to suffer to create, I am excited to guide you in this 12 week program!
