It’s no secret that that engaging in the same action over and over again makes it more likely that you will develop a repetitive strain injury. The good news is that this outcome is not inevitable. Learning more about your most important tool, your body, can be incredibly empowering.
I recently had the opportunity to escape for a few days to the Getaway House in the Catskills (NY). I was invited as one of their Artist Fellows to stay for 2 nights in their “Frieda” tiny home. The Getaway House is also pup friendly, so my pups and I drove up for the much needed escape. Here are three things I learned on my Getaway house adventure!
I don’t know about the art program(s) that you attended, but in the ones I went through we didn’t really talk about health and wellness in the studio. I get it, we’re in art school to study art, not physical therapy, but our studio practices influence the longevity of our careers, and I believe that encouraging education about these topics should be a priority.
Can you believe 2019 is already here?! I am spending some time journaling and reflecting. For me, this past year has been filled with a lot of challenge, loss, and change. I am so grateful to be surrounded by incredible people who have shown me and my husband endless love and support throughout these challenges. This year has taught me what it means to be resilient.
