About 9 months ago, I became a Kinship-Foster Mama. Kinship means that I am related to the children in placement. It also means that it happened overnight, without warning or preparation. Did you know that over 500,000 kids in the United States were put into the foster care system last year?
I recently had the opportunity to escape for a few days to the Getaway House in the Catskills (NY). I was invited as one of their Artist Fellows to stay for 2 nights in their “Frieda” tiny home. The Getaway House is also pup friendly, so my pups and I drove up for the much needed escape. Here are three things I learned on my Getaway house adventure!
Have you heard about the minimal shoe movement? Minimal shoes are different than regular shoes in a couple of ways. For one, they have a much wider toe-box, which gives your feet room to stretch (you can even wear toe spacers with many of them). They allow your feet to feel and respond to more variety in the terrain you walk on (automatically!), which helps retrain your muscles to develop more strength in areas that are lacking. Minimal shoes can be a great step on the path to developing more resilient ankles!
