    Motherhood Status: " It's Complicated"

    Hey Maker!

About 9 months ago, I became a Kinship-Foster Mama. Kinship means that I am related to the children in placement. It also means that it happened overnight, without warning or preparation. Did you know that over 500,000 kids in the United States were put into the foster care system last year?

Throughout this experience, I have learned so much about what it means to be a mama, artist, and entrepreneur all at the same time. I have learned to create more structure and balance, and to ask for help when and where I can. It has been a challenging journey, but each day I am reminded of my resilience and capacity.

Today, I would like to send a little extra love to all of you Mamas out there and that includes those whose relationship status is more complicated than the rest. So whether you are a Biological Mama, Foster/Kinship Mama, Adoptive Mama, Step Mama, Kinship Legal Guardian, hoping to conceive, hoping to adopt, or grieving: Thank you for all that you do for the children around you!

I invite you to take a moment to honor the beautiful success that you already are. Remember that the fact you are living, breathing, and your beautiful heart is beating is evidence enough of your success. The fact that you’ve made it through every hardship, every heart break, every challenge thus far is a reminder of your resilience.

Have a wonderful day Makers. Remember to take care of yourself this week. Grab our free self-care booklet for some extra reminders
